SEND

Experience tells us that dealing with small problems early helps to stop them growing into bigger problems.

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator is Mr Paul Davidson (Assistant Headteacher). Please contact him if your child has a Special Educational Need or Disability.

Our Inclusion Manager is Mrs Helen Wardman. Please contact her if your child is facing a challenge at home or school that you think that we can help with. Our Inclusion Officer is Allison Heaton. They assist Mr Davidson and Mrs Wardman and may be your point of contact with school if they are working with your child.

Please ask to speak to one of them if your child is facing challenges. Experience tells us that dealing with small problems early helps to stop them growing into bigger problems. Sometimes it is difficult to meet with your child's class teacher to let them know about a small problem. No problem is too small (or large) for them to try to sort out.

Please contact Mr Davidson on 01723 365686 or by email at p.davidson@newby.n-yorks.sch.uk Please contact Mrs Wardman on 01723 365686 or by email at h.wardman@newby.n-yorks.sch.uk

As a part of the Children and Families Act 2014 all local authorities have to publish a ‘local offer’ for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their families.

North Yorkshire’s offer can be found here:

North Yorkshire Local Offer- https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/send-local-offer

If you require any additional advice, information or support, which is independent from the school, SENDIASS (SEND Information, Advice and Support Service) can provide free and impartial support.

SENDIASS (SEND Information, Advice and Support Service) – https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/sendiass-north-yorkshire

Information on helplines and organisations that can also provide support to children and parents/carers can also be found here: https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/send-groups-and-networks
